This course closely examines the communicative strategies of social movements (e.g., civil rights, gender rights, indigenous rights, and environmental movements, etc.) to better understand the ways a plurality of voices contribute to, resist, and ultimately shape societal change.
Students build upon historical knowledge and perspective in an immersive study of an ongoing contemporary social controversy, ultimately creating an informed rhetorical intervention of their own, bringing their communication perspective and skills to the pressing social issues of the current day.
Students will use the Wiki aspect of the assignment to learn how to intervene by improving collective knowledge.
