We will see how literature exposes us to the lived experiences of immigrants coming to America. How is immigration grounded in the very notion of the American Dream? How is immigration creating new identities where race, gender, class, sexuality, ethnicity, citizenship, and physical and mental ability intersect? What does it mean to assimilate or integrate into American society? How do we understand the immigrant experiences through their voices?
