Environmental Sociology explores the complex relationship between humans and the environment, through the lens of sociology. In essence, this course takes students to an in-depth analysis of contemporary environmental challenges. By examining the social and cultural factors that shape human-environment interactions, this course highlights the role of power, inequality, and social structures in shaping environmental outcomes. In the course of their learning journey, students will actively contribute to Wikipedia articles, applying their newfound knowledge. Specifically, articles that student are likely to contribute to encompasses theoretical concepts such as environmental sociology and ecological modernization, extending to practical societal issues like lead poisoning in Massachusetts.
