This course presents literature by and about women from at least three of the following cultural, ethnic, or racial groups: African American, Native American, European American, Asian American, and Latinx American. The course will analyze women’s prescribed role in society, their literary voices in resistance to those roles, as well as the language, ideology, content, and form of the literature. Through reading, analysis, and discussion, the course will connect these literatures to historical, social, cultural, and aesthetic contexts and examine issues central to women’s lives.
The final project for this course will be adding content to Wikipedia in relation to the study of this particular literary field of study.
