In this English composition class, students will explore the possible uses of generative artificial intelligence (genAI) in academic research. They will progress through the research paper writing process while actively experimenting with, discussing, and reflecting on the potential benefits and limitations of using genAI for each skill involved to develop a deeper understanding of genAI’s applications and ethical implications. They will collaboratively create guidelines for responsible genAI usage in scholarly work and apply these principles to their own research projects. Students may choose to incorporate genAI to support their writing process.
