This course introduces students to the interdisciplinary world of academia. Our most pressing questions – such as, “How can we end poverty in my town?”, or “How do we make sure people in my community are getting the health care they need?” – cannot be answered by any single academic discipline by itself. To really make a difference, we have to collaborate. Although each discipline has its own unique strengths, all academia shares a common need to reason, research, and write well. Therefore, in this course we will practice skills in collaboration, reasoning, research, and writing. We will use those skills to address problems in the diverse communities we belong to via our contributions to Wikipedia, the world’s largest successful commons.
