The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the discipline of communication, with a focus on digital media. This is the first course in the graduate programs; it will prepare students for graduate work by developing their writing, research and presentation skills. Wikipedia assignments allow students to hone research, writing and editing skills while making a real-world contribution to the digital commons.

Now's the time to revisit your text and refine your work. You may do more research and find missing information; rewrite the lead section to represent all major points; reorganize the text to communicate the information better; or add images and other media.

Write a paper going beyond your Wikipedia article to advance your own ideas, arguments, and original research about your topic.
