This project page co-ordinates activities to improve articles and images related to research and curated by the Toodyay Museums.
Toodyaypedia is a WikiTown QRpedia project based around Toodyay, Western Australia. The project is a collaborative project between, Shire of Toodyay, Toodyay Historical Society and Wikimedia Australia the Toodyay Museums are working to add authoritative content to Wikipedia and to encourage other organisations in Western Australia to do the same.
The goal is to share Toodyay related information and stories with the world along with information about its people and places.
The first event took place on Saturday 12 October 2013 with Wikipedia Takes Toodyay Show as part of the Toodyay's 160th show.
In January 2014, work commenced on article creation for heritage listed places. This is being augmented with the creation of QR codes for Connor's Mill and Old Newcastle Gaol museums.
Articles about Michael Cavanagh, architect of Victoria Hotel, were on the main page of Wikipedia on 17 January 2014. This was followed by Butterly House which was on the main page on 19 January 2014.
8 March 2014 - successful 'usual suspects' road trip. Regular contributors jumped aboard a bus to Toodyay for the day to spread the Wiki experience and improve local knowledge of how WP works. Incorporated a backstage pass to Toodyay's history and an afternoon of content improvement though direct access to Toodyay records and Wiki training for local historians.
4 May 2014 -- Moondyne Festival was attended, and saw local Wikimedians meeting in Toodyay for their regular quarterly coffee and chat...
4 September 2014 -- William Henry Strahan article appeared on DYK and published in the Toodyay Herald at the same time.
19 July 2015 - The executive committee of Wikimedia Australia toured Toodyay inspecting the QR codes and meeting with project partners and Toodyay locals.
12 September 2015 - Event at the 150th anniversary celebrations for the Old Newcastle Gaol and Stables.
