Article templates

[edit]

This is a non-exhaustive list of templates commonly used on WP:WHOCKEY articles. It is not a claim of creation or ownership by the task force, see individual template histories for attribution. If you feel additional templates should be included, please add them or raise a topic on the Talk page and another task force member will add them for you.

If you run into any difficulties with a template, helpful parameter descriptions and examples are often available on the template page at Template:{{{{NAME}}}, or on the template’s talk page at Template talk:{{{NAME}}}. The task force Talk page is always available to you.

For templates designed to use properties from an article’s Wikidata item, adding the missing parameters/data to the linked Wikidata item is much more helpful to the community than manually inputting template values on the Wikipedia article.

Note: The samples presented here are incomplete and serve only as visual aids. To use the template depicted, follow the template link and copy the blank parameters from the template documentation.

{{Infobox college coach}}

  • Standard Infobox for a college coach with elements of playing career included. For active coaches, uses the colors specified by the college color module to jazz up Infobox headers.

{{Infobox sportsperson}}

  • General infobox template for bio pages of people involved in sports (athletes, coaches, club founders, etc.). In general, Template:Infobox ice hockey player is preferred for ice hockey players. Infobox sportsperson is useful for people who both play(ed) and coach(ed), as it allows for multiple infoboxes to be embedded.

Note: For templates designed to use properties stored in a linked Wikidata item, adding the missing data to the Wikidata item is much more helpful to the community than manually inputting template values on the Wikipedia article.

National team templates

[edit]

{{Infobox national hockey team}} → Template for national hockey team. It is not likely to be used for new page creation as most (if not all) of the IIHF national member programmes already have pages.

{{ihw}} → Produces a flag icon attached to wikilinked women's national ice hockey team article. Use country name, the three-letter country code as used by the IIHF, or the three-letter ISO country code (usually the same as IIHF, Switzerland is an outlier).

{{Ihw-rt}} → Variant of ihw, renders flag on right.

  • {{ihw-rt|Japan}} produces Japan
  • {{ihw-rt|JPN}} produces Japan

{{Ihw18}} → Produces a flag icon attached to wikilinked women's national under-18 ice hockey team article.

  • {{ihw18|Canada}} produces  Canada
  • {{ihw18|CAN}} produces  Canada

{{Nwiht}} – Wikilinks to national women's ice hockey team (Nwiht) article. Use country name only, country codes do not work with this template.
