I've have been attempting to improve all Mega Man-related articles these past few weeks. I feel I have sufficient information and sources to achieve a higher rank with this one, but would like further evaluation before pursuing it. Please note that this article is listed as "High Importance" on the project's importance scale. ~ Hibana (talk) 01:47, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Comments: Not a bad article, overall. High importance seems justified due to the legacy stuff and the fact that it started the popular series. As a side note, drop by the Sonic and the Secret Rings PR here if you have time; it has almost no comments.
Nintendo Entertainment System in the lead should have "(NES)" after it to clarify later instances of the abbreviation.Change "the Osamu Tezuka manga character Astro Boy" to "the eponymous protagonist of Osamu Tezuka's manga Astro Boy". Although the character and the manga are closely related, they are not the same thing. In the remakes and re-releases section, change "online" to "the PlayStation Network online service", as readers unfamiliar with the service might not make the connection to online gaming. In the infobox, change "Action/Platform" to "Action, [[platform game|platform" per MoS positions on slashes in text.Change "This type of naming would take place with" to "This type of naming would later be used with" or "This type of naming would extend to". It's understandable the way it is, just technically gramatically incorrect. Tezero (talk) 01:01, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- I will note really quickly that all mentions of Mega Man as a game title (not as a character) and other titles must be italicized, even in the citations. –MuZemike 16:12, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- But what if the title of the citation does not capitalize it?Tintor2 (talk) 20:37, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
- There are actually several reasons:
- Many websites have their own way of formatting titles, whereas we have our own (the manual of style).
- Consistency. If they are italicized in the article itself, then they should logically be italicized in the citations, links, etc.
- We need to be able to differentiate between the Mega Man game and the Mega Man character. Italics helps accomplish that objective.
