The Album
The Unforgettable Fire was released on October 1, 1984.
It was far more ambient and abstract than War , U2's previous album, and was the band's first major change in musical direction.
It was U2's first collaboration with Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno .
The album took its name from an art exhibition of art by survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs.
During the Unforgettable Fire Tour , U2 performed at Live Aid, where Bono jumped off the stage to dance with a fan who was being crushed against the barrier during an epic 12-minute version of "Bad" .
The singles from the album were "Pride (In the Name of Love) " and "The Unforgettable Fire ".
