The railroad of the Wilmington and Northern Railroad Company, herein called the Wilmington and Northern is a single-track line extending from Cumru Junction, near Reading, Pa., to Wilmington, Del., a distance of 89.966 miles, including a branch from Elverson to St. Peter, Pa., and several short branches in and around Wilmington, Del.


From the date of incorporation to January 31, 1900, the Wilmington and Northern was operated by its own organization. From February 1, 1900, to date of valuation the property has been operated by the Philadelphia and Reading under lease agreement. The accounting records of the Wilmington and Northern for the period prior to January 1, 1885, are not obtainable. The information contained herein has been obtained from its available accounting records.
