Location and General Description of Property

[edit]

The railroad of the Wichita Valley Railroad Company, herein called the Wichita Valley Railroad, is a single-track line, extending southwesterly from Seymour to Stamford, Tex., 60.881 miles.

Introductory

[edit]

The Wichita Valley Railroad is a corporation of the State of Texas, having its principal corporate office at Seymour, Tex., and its principal business office at Fort Worth, Tex. The Wichita Valley Railroad is controlled by the Colorado and Southern through ownership of the entire outstanding capital stock, except directors' shares. On the other hand, the records reviewed do not indicate that this company, itself, controls any common-carrier corporation. The property of the Wichita Valley Railroad has been operated by the Wichita Valley Railway from about November 1, 1906, when the first section of its road was placed in operation, to date of valuation. The operations were conducted without formal lease prior to February 1, 1908, and by formal lease since that date.

Corporate History

[edit]

The Wichita Valley Railroad was incorporated October 12, 1905, under the general laws of the State of Texas, for the purpose of constructing a railroad from Seymour to Stamford, Tex. The date of its organization was October 12, 1905.

Development of Fixed Physical Property

[edit]

The owned mileage, 60.881 miles, was all acquired by construction during the period 1905 to 1908. The construction work was performed by The Fidelity Construction Company, an affiliated company.

Leased Railway Property

[edit]

The entire property of the Wichita Valley Railroad is leased to the Wichita Valley Railway under lease for a period of five years from February 1, 1908. The terms of the lease and the rental accrued for the year ending on date of valuation are given in the chapter on Leased Railway Property of the report on the Wichita Valley Railway.
