The railroad of the Warren & Ouachita Valley Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad extending westwardly from Warren to Banks, Ark., a distance of 15.920 miles. The carrier wholly owns and uses 18.650 miles of all tracks, which are classified in the trackage table in Appendix 1. The carrier is an industrial railroad. It reports that during the year 1918 it handled 116,478 tons of freight, of which 96,499 tons represented products of forests, most of which was received from the Arkansas Lumber Company and the Southern Lumber Company, which are controlled by individuals interested in the railway.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated March 7, 1899, under the general laws of the State of Arkansas for the stated purpose of acquiring and operating a railway in Bradley County, Ark.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

Of the 15.92 miles of railroad owned by the carrier, about 3.5 miles were purchased from the Arkansas Lumber Company and from the Southern Lumber Company in July, 1902, and the remaining mileage was constructed during the period 1902 to 1906.
