The railroad of The Virginian Terminal Railway Company, herein called the Virginian Terminal Railway, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad located in the State of Virginia. Its main line extends southeasterly from Sewall's Point to Boush Creek, Va., 1.523 miles. The Virginian Terminal Railway also owns yard and side tracks totaling 30.490 miles. Its road thus embraces 32.013 miles of all tracks owned.

Corporate history.—The Virginian Terminal Railway was incorporated March 8, 1907, under the general laws of Virginia. From July 1, 1909, to May 1, 1913, the property of the Virginian Terminal Railway was operated by the Virginian under an agreement to lease dated May 1, 1907. On May 1, 1913, it was formally leased to the Virginian for a period of 99 years. It is controlled by the Virginian through ownership of the outstanding capital stock, and is also operated by the latter. DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The property of the Virginian Terminal Railway was built by the Tidewater Construction Company, which was organized by H. H. Rogers and associates for the purpose of giving the carrier deep-water freight facilities at Sewall's Point. Work was begun about May, 1907, and the property, which was completed and opened for operation on July 1, 1909, has been continuously operated by the carrier, first under an agreement and later under leasehold rights.
