The railroad of Tennessee & Carolina Southern Railway Company, herein called the Tennessee & Carolina Southern, is a single-track road located wholly within the State of Tennessee and extends from a connection with the Southern at Maryville to Alcoa, 30.226 miles. In addition to this amount of first main track, this company owns 3.531 miles of yard and side track, a total of 33.757 miles of all tracks.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The Tennessee & Carolina Southern was incorporated December 22, 1902, under the general laws of Tennessee. Its organization was perfected December 11, 1902.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the Tennessee & Carolina Southern, 30.226 miles, was all acquired by construction. The years when the various portions of the line were constructed are indicated in the following statement:

Maryville to Chilhowie, Tenn., August 1903, to Dec. 10, 1908 25.30
Chilhowie to Alcoa, Tenn., Dec. 30, 1903, to May 22, 1916 4.59

The construction work on the road from Maryville to Chilhowie was performed principally by W. J. Oliver
