The railroad of Tennessee & Carolina Southern Railway Company, herein called the Tennessee & Carolina Southern, is a single-track road located wholly within the State of Tennessee and extends from a connection with the Southern at Maryville to Alcoa, 30.226 miles. In addition to this amount of first main track, this company owns 3.531 miles of yard and side track, a total of 33.757 miles of all tracks.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The Tennessee & Carolina Southern was incorporated December 22, 1902, under the general laws of Tennessee. Its organization was perfected December 11, 1902.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The owned mileage of the Tennessee & Carolina Southern, 30.226 miles, was all acquired by construction. The years when the various portions of the line were constructed are indicated in the following statement:
- Maryville to Chilhowie, Tenn., August 1903, to Dec. 10, 1908 25.30
- Chilhowie to Alcoa, Tenn., Dec. 30, 1903, to May 22, 1916 4.59

- Difference between total recorded mileage and mileage inventoried as of date of valuation .336
