The railroad of the Sand Springs Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a standard-gauge railroad, operated by steam and electricity, located in the State of Oklahoma, extending from Tulsa to Sand Springs, a distance of 10.42 miles. It also owns and uses 3.608 miles of second main track and 15.309 miles of yard and side tracks. Its road thus embraces 29.337 miles of all tracks.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated February 6, 1911, under the general laws of the State of Oklahoma, as the Sand Springs Interurban Railway Company. The name was changed to Sand Springs Railway Company on February 10, 1912. The purpose of the incorporation was to acquire and operate a railroad to extend to the Sand Springs Orphans' Home, which was established and endowed by Charles Page.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier was acquired by it through construction, which was performed principally by its own forces. Construction of the first main-line mileage was begun in March, 1911, and was not completed until June 30, 1912, although the road was opened for operation on July 1, 1911. Construction of the second main-line mileage was begun and completed in 1917, but it was not put into operation until June, 1918.
