The railroad of The San Luis Southern Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, extending from a connection with The Denver and Rio Grande Railroad Company's line, at Blanca, to Jaroso, all in the State of Colorado, a distance of 31.678 miles. In addition, the carrier owns 2.595 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 34.273 miles of all tracks owned, all of which it uses.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated July 3, 1909, under the general laws of the State of Colorado for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from Blanca, Colo., to a point near Questa, N. Mex. The date of organization of the carrier was July 6, 1909.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The owned mileage of the carrier, 31.678 miles, was all acquired by construction. It was constructed by The San Luis Southern Construction Company, an affiliated company, during the period from July, 1909, to November, 1910, although a portion of the road was opened for operation on April 14, 1910. There is a difference of 0.148 mile between the mileage recorded by the carrier, 31.53 miles, and the mileage, 31.678 miles, inventoried as of date of valuation.
