The railroad of the Rockingham Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in southern North Carolina. The main line extends southerly from Leak to Gibson, a distance of 21.541 miles, with a short branch line extending to the station at Rockingham, aggregating 22.022 miles of first main track. The carrier also owns 2.970 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 24.992 miles of all tracks owned and used. The carrier has trackage rights between Gibson, N. C., and Bennettsville, S. C., a distance of about 11.1 miles, over the tracks of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated in 1909, under the North Carolina private laws of 1909, chapter 68, as the Pee Dee Valley Railway Company. On January 8, 1910, its name was changed to the Rockingham Railway Company and on June 15, 1910, to the Rockingham Railroad Company.

The owned mileage of the carrier, amounting to 22.022 miles, was all acquired by construction during the period from June, 1910, to May, 1912.
