Location and general description of property.—The railroad of The River Terminal Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in Cleveland, Ohio, comprising 3.044 miles of main track and 8.825 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 11.869 miles of all tracks owned. The carrier is an industrial railroad, most of its revenue being derived from switching cars between the plants of The River Furnace Company, an affiliated company, and connecting railroads.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated December 8, 1909, under the general laws of the State of Ohio, for the purpose of constructing, purchasing, or leasing and operating terminal railroad facilities at Cleveland, Ohio. The date of organization of the carrier was December 16, 1909.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, 3.044 miles, was all acquired by purchase on January 2, 1916, from The River Furnace Company. It was constructed by that company during 1909.
