The railroad of the Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in northeastern Oklahoma. The main line extends from Miami to Century, Okla., a distance of 12.086 miles. The carrier also owns 8.909 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 20.996 miles of all tracks owned.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated September 26, 1908, under the general laws of the State of Oklahoma, as the Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri Inter-Urban Railway Company, for the purpose of constructing a railroad from Miami by way of Hattonville and Lincolnville, through the county of Ottawa, to Baxter Springs, Kans., a distance of about 22 miles. Its name was changed May 8, 1917.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The entire road owned by the carrier, consisting of 12.086 miles of main line, was all acquired by construction. Of the total main line owned, 4.24 miles, extending from Miami to Commerce, was constructed during 1908 and 1909, but the records reviewed do not indicate by whom the work was done, nor the date it was completed. The line extending from Commerce to Century, 7.846 miles, was constructed during 1916, under contract by J. W. Hoffman and Company, of Kansas City, Mo.
