The Oakdale & Gulf Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad located in the south-central part of Louisiana. The only property owned by the carrier includes includes certain yard tracks at Oakdale, La., and equipment. Its main line and sidings, which it leases for exclusive operation, are owned jointly by the Forest Lumber Company and the Bowman–Hicks Lumber Company. The carrier is an industrial railroad. It reports that during the year 1918 it handled 118,102 tons of freight of which 116,790 tons represent forest products, most of which were received from the above-named lumber companies, which are affiliated with the railroad. The carrier owns and uses 0.294 mile of yard tracks and uses but does not own 12.174 miles of all tracks, or a total of 12.468 miles of all tracks, which are classified in the trackage table in Appendix 1.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated February 7, 1916, under the laws of the State of Louisiana. The purpose for which it was incorporated was to acquire and construct, maintain, and operate a railroad commencing at Oakdale and running in a general southerly direction to carry freight only, and to construct or lease and operate the necessary telegraph and telephone lines.

The road operated by the carrier was acquired by lease dated May 17, 1916, from the Forest Lumber Company and the Bowman–Hicks Lumber Company, which companies owned the road jointly.
