The railroad of The North and South Carolina Railroad Company, herein called the North and South Carolina, is a single-track road located wholly within the State of North Carolina and extends from a connection with the Atlantic and Danville at N. C.-S. C. Junction to Holloway Mines. The property embraces 3.704 miles of first main and 1.121 miles of yard and side tracks, a total of 4.825 miles of all tracks.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The North and South Carolina was incorporated on February 22 and 27, 1899, respectively, by special acts of North Carolina and South Carolina. The North Carolina charter was amended March 2, 1899. Organization of this company was effected on March 13, 1899.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The entire 3.704 miles of road owned on date of valuation, was acquired by construction, which was performed by the Atlantic and Danville, an affiliated corporation, during the year 1899. The road was opened for operation during the latter part of that year.
