The railroad of the Mount Carmel Railroad Company, herein called the Mount Carmel Railroad, is a single-track line extending from Mount Carmel Junction to Natalie, Pa., a distance of 5.864 miles.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The Mount Carmel Railroad was incorporated January 11, 1907, under the general laws of Pennsylvania for the purpose of acquiring the franchises, rights, and property of the Mount Carmel and Natalie Railroad Company. The property of the latter was sold under foreclosure proceedings September 28, 1906, and was conveyed to the Mount Carmel Railroad some time in 1907.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
According to the records of the Mount Carmel Railroad the Mount Carmel and Natalie Railroad Company built the railroad acquired by the Mount Carmel Railroad and opened it for traffic November 5, 1891. The exact date on which the property was deeded to the Mount Carmel Railroad was not ascertained. After the property was acquired by the latter company, it was repaired by the Philadelphia and Reading and again opened for operation by the Mount Carmel Railroad on February 1, 1908.
