The railroad of the Mount Carbon and Port Carbon Railroad Company, herein called the Mount Carbon and Port Carbon, is a double-track line extending from Pottsville Junction to Palo Alto, Pa., a distance of 2.612 miles.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The Mount Carbon and Port Carbon was incorporated December 5, 1842, under a special act of Pennsylvania. The date of organization was January 15, 1844.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The mileage owned by the Mount Carbon and Port Carbon, amounting to 2.612 miles, was acquired by construction which was begun in 1844. The road was completed and opened to traffic about December 1, 1844.
