Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated on June 11, 1874, by special act of the State of Rhode Island, and its organization was perfected on June 21, 1876. On April 13, 1904, the charter was amended and authority granted to extend the road from the terminus at Woodlawn to Pawtucket, R. I., and to increase the capital stock. Its principal office is at Saylesville, R. I. The carrier is controlled by Frank A. Sayles, its president, through ownership of 90 per cent of its capital stock. The detailed facts as to the development of the fixed physical property are given in Appendix 2.
