The railroad of Mineral Point and Northern Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad located in the southwestern part of Wisconsin. The owned mileage extends in a northerly direction from Highland Junction to Highland, a distance of 26.561 miles. The carrier also owns yard and side tracks totaling 3.079 miles. Its road thus embraces 29.640 miles of all tracks owned. In Appendix 1 will be found a general description of the property of the carrier.
Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated October 17, 1899, under the general laws of Wisconsin. The purpose of incorporation was to construct, maintain, and operate a railroad from Highland to Linden, thence to Mineral Point, Wis. The carrier's organization was perfected October 17, 1899. The carrier has always been operated by its own organization. The principal office is located at Mineral Point. The detailed facts as to the development of the fixed physical property are given in Appendix 2.

- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The property of the carrier was acquired by construction. Work was begun about January, 1904, and the road opened for operation about December of that year. All branches of the construction work were done by the Empire Construction Company, hereinafter called the construction company.
