The railroad of Mascot and Western Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad located in the southeastern part of the State of Arizona. The carrier's owned line extends from Mascot to Willcox, a distance of 14.834 miles. The carrier also owns 1.599 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 16.433 miles of all tracks owned. In Appendix 1 will be found further description of the carrier's property.


Corporate history.—Incorporation of the carrier was effected under the general laws of the State of Arizona July 2, 1914, for a period of 50 years. The carrier was organized for the purpose of constructing and operating a steam railroad as a common carrier and particularly to serve the interests of the Mascot Copper Company. The principal office of the carrier is located at Mascot. Details as to the development of the carrier's fixed physical property are given in Appendix 2.

APPENDIX 2
DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The road owned by the carrier on date of valuation was constructed for the carrier by J. A. Veness, a contractor, during the period October 1, 1914, to June 30, 1915. The contractor was not affiliated with the carrier or the Mascot Copper Company. All of the rails and track fastenings used in the construction of the tracks were leased to the carrier by the Southern Pacific Railroad Company under conditions more fully explained hereinafter in the chapter Leased Railway Property.
