The railroad of The Lakeside and Marblehead Railroad Company, herein called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in northern Ohio. The main line extends northeasterly from Danbury to Bay Point (Marblehead), 9.888 miles. The carrier also owns 15.670 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 25.558 miles of all tracks owned and used.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated August 17, 1886, under the general laws of the State of Ohio for the purpose of acquiring the property, rights, and franchises of The Cleveland, Toledo and Lakeside Railway Company, which was done. The latter company was incorporated April 8, 1885, under the general laws of the State of Ohio. Its property, rights, and franchises were sold to the carrier September 28, 1886. The date of organization of the carrier was not determined.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, 9.88 miles, was acquired by construction. It acquired certain property, rights, and franchises, including certain right-of-way lands and other property from its predecessor and completed the construction of the road which was opened for operation about January 17, 1887.
