The railroad of the Kentucky & Tennessee Railway, herein called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in southeastern Kentucky. The main line extends westerly from Stearns to Exodus, 16.274 miles. The carrier also owns 5.837 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 22.111 miles of all tracks owned and used.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated February 8, 1904, under the general laws of the State of Kentucky, for the purpose of acquiring the property, rights, and franchises of the Kentucky & Tennessee Railroad, which was done. The latter company was incorporated May 22, 1902, under the general laws of the State of Kentucky. Its property, rights, and franchises were sold under the terms of its proposition submitted to the carrier on February 10, 1904, and was conveyed to that company by deed dated March 28, 1904. The date of organization was February 10, 1904.

The owned mileage of the carrier, 16.274 miles, was acquired partly by construction and partly by purchase, as indicated in the statement following:
- By construction, Barthell to Exodus, Ky., completed and opened for operation by sections during the period 1904-1908 and Oct. 1, 1913 12.77
