The railroad of the Kanawha, Glen Jean and Eastern Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad extending southwestwardly from Glen Jean to Tamroy, W. Va., with a branch from Sugar Creek Junction to Pax, W. Va., a total of 14.281 miles. It also owns a right of way from Glen Jean to Thurmond, W. CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated November 1, 1895, under the general laws of the State of West Virginia.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The mileage owned by the carrier, 14.281 miles, was all acquired by construction. The years when the various portions of the line were constructed are indicated in the following statement.

The greater part of the work, except tracklaying, was done by contractors not affiliated with the carrier, who were paid in cash. Tracklaying was done by company forces and by forces of the McKell Coal and Coke Company.
