The common-carrier property of the Fort Worth Belt Railway Company, herein called the carrier, is located in and near Fort Worth, Tex., and consists of switching facilities serving stockyard companies and allied industries. The property operated is located partly on leased lands and includes 3.204 miles of main tracks and 14.835 miles of yard tracks and sidings, aggregating 18.039 miles of all tracks.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated November 26, 1895, under the general laws of the State of Texas, for the stated purpose of acquiring and operating a belt railway In and near Fort Worth, Tex. It was originally incorporated as the Fort Worth Stock Yards Belt Railway Company. This was changed on January 23, 1903, to the present name.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The property owned by the carrier, consisting of switching facilities located partly on leased lands, was all acquired by construction. The first construction was performed in 1895 and 1896, but was suspended until 1902 and 1903, when certain tracks and other property were completed and opened for operation. Additional property has been constructed since 1903. Information regarding the construction performed during the years 1895 and 1896 has not been obtained; the construction during and after 1902 has been performed principally by the Fort Worth Stock Yards Company for account of the carrier.
