The railroad of the Fairmont Helen's Run Railway Company, herein called the Fairmont Helen's Run Railway, is a single-track detached branch line, located in West Virginia and extending from Chiefton to Idamay and Carolina, aggregating 6.671 miles of road. The Monongahela Valley Traction Company has trackage rights over this line between Idamay and Helen's Run Junction, which portion is equipped for the operation of overhead-trolley electric cars. The trolley line, poles, and fixtures along this section are jointly owned with, but wholly used by, the traction company.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The Fairmont Helen's Run Railway was incorporated July 16, 1915, under the general laws of West Virginia for the purpose of building a railroad from a point of connection with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad system, near Chiefton, W. Va., to the headwaters of Helen's Run, with a branch along Martins Run, all in the State of West Virignia. The company was organized August 25, 1915.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the Fairmont Helen's Run Railway, 6.671 miles was acquired by construction. Work on this road was begun in August, 1915, and completed September 21, 1916, when the road was opened for operation by The Western Maryland Railway Company under an agreement of that date.
