The railroad of the East Texas and Gulf Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in eastern Texas. The main line extends southeasterly from Hyatt to Hicksbaugh, a distance of 3.854 miles. The carrier also owns 1.420 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 5.274 miles of all tracks owned and used.
The carrier grants to the Lodwick Lumber Company trackage rights over the entire road for the operation of its logging trains in consideration of the right to use certain tracks of the Lodwick Lumber Company.
This is an industrial railroad. It is controlled by the Lodwick Lumber Company, owner of a large sawmill located at Hicksbaugh, Tex., that is served by the carrier.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated August 1, 1917, under the general laws of Texas, for the purpose of constructing, equipping, and operating a railroad through Tyler and Hardin Counties, Tex. It was organized August 21, 1917.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The road, all owned, 3.854 miles, extending from Hyatt to Hicksbaugh, Tex., was constructed for the carrier by affiliated lumber companies. Construction commenced in August 1917, and was completed in October 1917.
