The railroad of the East Pennsylvania Railroad Company, herein called the East Pennsylvania Railroad, is a double-track line extending from Allentown to Reading, Pa., a distance of 35.842 miles.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The East Pennsylvania Railroad was incorporated May 26, 1856, by special act of Pennsylvania, as the Reading and Lehigh Railroad Company. By special act of the same State, approved April 21, 1857, the corporate title was changed to that borne on date of valuation.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The mileage owned by the East Pennsylvania Railroad, amounting to 35.842 miles, was acquired by construction. Work was begun on June 11, 1857, and the road was completed and opened for operation May 11, 1859.
