Location and general description of property.—The railroad of The Cuyahoga Valley Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad located within the city of Cleveland, Ohio. It performs a switching service only. The owned mileage extends from a point on the Cuyahoga River near Clark Avenue to a connection with The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, a distance of 0.833 mile. The carrier also owns 7.855 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 8.688 miles of all tracks.

The carrier is an industrial switching railroad. It reports for the year ending December 31, 1917, that it handled 43,399 cars in revenue service. Most of this traffic was received from or delivered to the Cleveland Furnace Company, which controls the railroad.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated May 18, 1905, under the general laws of the State of Ohio for the purpose of operating certain tracks and facilities that were owned by the Cleveland Furnace Company. The date of organization of the carrier was December 6, 1905.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, extending from a point on the Cuyahoga River to a connection with the road of The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, 0.833 mile, all in Cleveland, Ohio, was acquired by direct purchase on December 10, 1908, from the Cleveland Furnace Company. The date the property was constructed was not obtainable from the records reviewed. The right of way on which the railroad of the carrier is constructed is owned by the Cleveland Furnace Company.
