The railroad of the Cheswick and Harmar Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, extending in two sections from Cheswick and from Red Raven station to the mines of the Equitable Coke Company near Harwick, Pa., a total of 4.231 miles.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated March 25, 1901, under the general laws of the State of Pennsylvania, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad not exceeding 5 miles in length, in Allegheny County, Pa., to extend from Cheswick to Harmar, Pa. Later, its charter was amended and the company acquired the right to construct and operate a railroad in Allegheny County not exceeding 10 miles in length.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The mileage owned by the carrier, 4.231 miles, was all acquired by construction. The years when the various portions of the line were constructed are indicated in the following statement:
