The railroad of the Brunswick and Chillicothe Railroad Company, herein called the Brunswick and Chillicothe, is a single-track line, located entirely within the State of Missouri and extending from Brunswick to Chillicothe, 38.187 miles.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The Brunswick and Chillicothe was incorporated November 5, 1873, under the general laws of Missouri, for the purpose of acquiring and operating the railroad formerly owned by the Chillicothe and Brunswick Railroad Company, which was done. The Chillicothe and Brunswick Railroad Company was incorporated under special act of Missouri approved January 26, 1864. Its property was sold to a trustee on August 7, 1873, and was conveyed by the trustee to the Brunswick and Chillicothe December 18, 1873. The date of organization was November 24, 1873.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

Of the road owned on date of valuation, 36.70 miles, extending from a connection with the road of the Wabash at Brunswick to a connection with the road of the St. Louis, Council Bluffs and Omaha at Chillicothe, Mo., and formerly owned by the Chillicothe and Brunswick Railroad Company, was acquired by purchase through George M. Rice, who purchased it at trustee's sale on August 7, 1873, and conveyed it to this company December 18, 1873. This mileage was constructed partly by the Chillicothe and Brunswick Railroad Company and partly by The North Missouri Railroad Company under contract. It was completed about March 1, 1871. The Brunswick and Chillicothe constructed an extension of the road, 1.47 miles, into the city of Brunswick, Mo., in May 1875. There is a difference of 0.017 mile between the mileage recorded by this company, 11.884 miles, aud the mileage, 11.867 miles, inventoried as of date of valuation.
