The Bowdon Railway Company, hereinafter called the Bowdon, owns and operates a single-track standard-gauge light-traffic railroad located in the western part of the State of Georgia and extending from Bowdon Junction, Ga., to Bowdon, Ga., a distance of 12.057 miles. Yard tracks and sidings aggregate 1.221 miles. A total of 13.278 miles of all tracks is owned and used by the Bowdon.

Corporate history.—The Bowdon was incorporated on April 9, 1910, under the general laws of Georgia, for a period of 101 years and for the purpose of constructing, equipping, maintaining, and operating a line of railroad from Bowdon, Ga., in an easterly direction to some point on the Central of Georgia Railway Company or the Southern Railway Company. The principal office of the Bowdon is at Bowdon. Control is vested in its president, J. L. Lovvorn. The line was opened for operations on January 25, 1911.
