The railroad of Blytheville, Burdette & Mississippi River Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad located in the northeastern part of Arkansas. The owned mileage extends northwardly from Wolverton Landing to Blytheville, with a branch line extending from Burdette to Burdette Junction. The total length of the main and branch lines is 11.988 miles. The carrier also owns yard and side tracks totaling 12.392 miles. Its road thus embraces 24.380 miles of all tracks owned.
Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated April 17, 1906, for a period of 50 years, under the general laws of the State of Arkansas, through filing with the secretary of state of Arkansas articles of incorporation on that date. The purpose for which the carrier was incorporated was to construct, own, operate, and maintain a railroad from Blytheville in a southerly direction to the Mississippi River, a distance of 14 miles, with two branch lines extending in opposite directions from the line near Burdette. The date of organization of the carrier was not disclosed by the records reviewed. Its principal corporate office is located at Burdette, and its principal accounting office at Memphis, Tenn.
