The railroad of the Abilene & Southern Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, consists of two sections of single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, aggregating 72.128 miles. One section extends from Ballinger to Abilene and the other extends from Anson to Hamlin, all in the State of Texas. The carrier also owns and uses 8.584 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 80.712 miles of all tracks. The carrier has trackage rights over the line of the Abilene & Northern Railway Company from Abilene to Anson, 24.62 miles, which connects the lines of the former company.

The carrier was incorporated January 13, 1909, under the general laws of the State of Texas, for a period of 50 years, as the Abilene and Southern Railway Company. The title was changed to Abilene & Southern Railway Company through amended articles of incorporation filed September 27, 1910.
