Working toward GA rating. Also think there should be discussion RE whether Kelly is of mid or high importance. Because of his tenure as one of the final shuttle commanders, and the massive spotlight on him from the shooting of his wife, he is arguably one of the highest profile astronauts of the shuttle era. At a time when the U.S. manned space program is about to farmed out to Russia (and outsourced?), the astronauts with the highest profiles at the end of the current era are of higher importance.--Utahredrock (talk) 20:36, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
The article is already rated B-class, which is the highest assessment category this WikiProject can give out. Regarding "mid" vs. "high", we're only looking at his importance with respect to spaceflight.. I suspect he's still only "mid"; for example, I don't see why he should be given a higher importance rating than his brother. Mlm42 (talk) 20:55, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Christa McAuliffe Was surprised that this is C with no importance level from this project. She seems like an obvious candidate for high importance. I'd imagine that it's agreed she was an astronaut, based on the Wikipedia definition: "An astronaut or cosmonaut is a person trained by a human spaceflight program to command, pilot, or serve as a crew member of a spacecraft." I don't have time to work on her article, but it seems to need review by this project. If I officially join the project can I review it? Can I change it to high importance?--Utahredrock (talk) 21:13, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Seems reasonable to me; in fact, none of the STS-51L crew have importance ratings, I agree though that they should all be High importance. Do please join the project; you'll get the newsletter and everything! :-) Colds7ream (talk) 10:05, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Indeed; see the project's importance scale, which has a section specifically for astronauts. In particular, it says all astronauts should be at least mid-importance.. it's kind of a judgement call which are high importance.. but if they died during a mission, then I think that qualifies.
