Heather Te Au Skipworth QSM is a New Zealand politician who was a candidate for Ikaroa-Rāwhiti for the Māori Party.
Political career
[edit]On 1 March 2020, Heather Te Au Skipworth was selected as the Māori Party candidate for Ikaroa-Rāwhiti for the 2020 election.[2] Te Au Skipworth claimed that the Government is on “a very thin line towards apartheid” in regards to the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act to address the COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand.[3]
Personal
[edit]Te Au Skipworth is of Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāi Tahu, Te Arawa, and Tuwharetoa iwi. She founded the IronMāori organisation for multi-sport events in 2009, recieving the Queen's Service Medal in 2014 for services to athletics and to Māori.[4]
