There are several different templates that used to be used to construct a mountain infobox. These templates are now deprecated.

• The infobox must start with either

Named arguments: Name, Photo, Caption, Elevation, Location, Range

or

{{Mtnbox start nopic}}

Named arguments: Name, Elevation, Location, Range

or

{{Mtnbox start norange}}

Named arguments: Name, Photo, Caption, Elevation, Location

or

{{Mtnbox start nopic norange}}

Named arguments: Name, Elevation, Location

• The next template (describing the topographic prominence of the peak) is optional:

1 positional parameter

• The next template in the infobox must define the latitude and longitude. Either of these templates is acceptable:

9 positional parameters - same as {{coor dms}}

{{Mtnbox coor dm}}

7 positional parameters - same as {{coor dm}}

{{Mtnbox coor d}}

5 positional parameters - same as {{coor d}}

• The next template (describing the topo map that the mountain appears on) is optional:

• The next (optional) template describes the geology of the mountain. Either one of these templates is acceptable:

Named arguments: Type, Age

{{Mtnbox volcano}}

Named arguments: Type, Age, Last eruption

• The next (optional) template describes the climbing of the mountain:

{{Mtnbox climb}}

Named arguments: First ascent, Easiest route

• The next templates are specific to peaks in the British Isles.

{{Mtnbox UK}} - for Great Britain and the Isle of Man

{{Mtnbox Ireland}} - for the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland

Both have the named arguments: grid_ref, listing

• The next template (describing the etymology and pronunciation of the mountain's name) is optional:

Named arguments: translation, language, pronunciation

• Finally, the infobox must finish with:

{{Mtnbox finish}}
