Wikipedia:WikiProject Molecular Biology/Computational Biology/ISMB-ECCB 2017 Editathon/Scoring

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page serves to outline the scoring rules and display a scoreboard of edits made during the editathon.

Rules

[edit]

The aim of the editathon is to improve the coverage of Wikipedia articles related to computational biology and bioinformatics. The only prerequisite is that the article has previously been identified by WikiProject Computational Biology as being within their scope. To check this, the article talk page should show the {{WikiProject Computational Biology}} template, which also displays the importance and quality rating of the article.

  • The editathon takes place on 23 July 2017, during which time participants will improve computational biology and bioinformatics-related articles.
  • After finishing with an article, participants should submit a diff of their edits to the edited articles page: this helps us keep track of all changes made. Need help with this? Ask a volunteer! :)
  • Edits between 10am and 9pm (CEST) are eligible for points (see below): and what do points make? Prizes!
  • Please ensure any added material is referenced with inline footnotes.

Panel of judges

Scoring and prizes

[edit]
  • 1 point for each eligible article edited.
  • 5 points for each additional 200b "readable prose size" (ignoring infoboxes, categories, references, lists, and tables etc.) The number of characters may be measured using this script (most accurate) or this one or this tool. The expansion is expected to be referenced with inline referencing.
  • 5 points for expanding a stub[nb 1] to a minimum of 1500 b "readable prose size".

Bonuses:

Prizes

[edit]

The editor with the most points will receive XX

XX remaining prizes will be chosen at random, with each participant weighted by their total points: so the more edits made, the higher the chance of winning, but it's by no means a certainty.

Scoreboard

[edit]

The judges will update the scoreboard periodically: we ask participants not to edit the scoreboard themselves.

Notes

[edit]
  1. ^ For the purposes of the competition, a stub will be defined as an article shorter than 200 words or 6 sentences (regardless of the current quality rating). If the stub has zero inline references, then this can be doubled (400 words or 12 sentences).
