Dance Again: The Hits is an upcoming greatest hits album by American recording artist and actress Jennifer Lopez. It will be released on July 24, 2012.[1]

Background

[edit]

In late 2011 it was confirmed that Lopez would be releasing a greatest hits album in 2012, in which her vocal producer and The-Dream were on board.[2][3][4] The former head of Island Def Jam, L.A. Reid, later announced this on twitter.[5]

"Dance Again" featuring American rapper Pitbull was released as the album's lead single on April 2, 2012. Lopez, at the time, was unsure whether or not it would be for a greatest hits album or a new studio album.

Touring

[edit]

During an interview with Extra, Lopez confirmed that she had been working on new music and a possible tour,[6] Lopez had also previously talked about the possibility of a tour after the release of Love? around June 2011, which never materialized, as it could have jeapordised her position as a judge on American Idol.[7]

In March 2012, it was announced that Lopez would headline two popular music festivals in Brazil.[8] While promoting the announcement, the singer mentioned she would like to venture onto a world tour "at some point". Following the announcement, music publication Billboard reported Lopez was in talks to conduct a co-headlining tour with Enrique Iglesias.[9] The rumors became official as Lopez announced the joint tour on "On Air with Ryan Seacrest", April 30, 2012.[10] Later that day, Lopez and Iglesias held a press conference at Boulevard3. The conference was streamed live on Lopez's official website.[11] During the conference, Iglesias stated the pairing felt "right" and he was excited to go on his first joint tour. In 2011, the Spanish singer was slated to join American singer Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale Tour; however he backed out just hours after the announcement.[12]

Amongst rumors, Benny Medina responded the tour isn't about "status" and "they don't care who opens or closes". A spokesman for AEG Live states both artist will receive equal billing and performance order will change with each show. The tour is Lopez's first world tour.[13] In 2007, the singer toured with estranged husband Marc Anthony for her first joint tour. Further details reveal famed tour director Jamie King will direct the show alongside Lopez's current boyfriend Casper Smart.[14]
