Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
Women's health articles need a lot of improvement. Many of them are outdated or overly jargony. They tend to be written for medical professionals and researchers and often have little or no practical information for women interested in their own health. This project would compliment the WikiProjects listed above by improving and expanding these articles, including adding information of practical value to women, and addressing social and political topics related to women's health. It would also strive to keep these articles up to date with the latest medical and scientific research (in accordance with WP:MOSMED). As a stand-alone project it would provide a prominent entry point for women editors interested in health issues, and hopefully contribute towards addressing Wikipedia's Gender gap.

  2. I would definitely want to join this project, though I cannot assure to spend a lot of time for it. This is the project I have always wanted to start on Wikipedia.-- Netha (talk) 20:40, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  3. I would not be involved much as it is outside my expertise, so not planning to join. Would be interested and willing to contribute if anything related to underwater diving comes up, but support on principle. • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 20:46, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  4. This is a badly needed project - women's health articles need a lot of TLC and it would be great to have a centralized place to pool resources and spark more collaboration! (Obviously, would join.) Keilana|Parlez ici 21:09, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  5. Support. I'd probably follow the talk page. Stuartyeates (talk) 00:17, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  7. I have experience as an OB/GYN nurse and know our Wikipedia English articles about Women's Health topics need more love. Sydney Poore/FloNight♥♥♥♥ 08:22, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  8. I'm interested in joining this project. An organized effort to improve coverage and quality of women's health topics meshes nicely with the efforts to address systemic gender bias. gobonobo + c 20:51, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  9. I would be interested in joining and helping out. Sarah (SV) (talk) 22:09, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  10. I think the scope of this project is important, and I support it, and I will help out. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:55, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  11. Would definitely join. 97198 (talk) 10:36, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  12. Book:Women's health inadequately describes women's health: it only has Obs, Gyn, and Cancer sections, and scoliosis, eating disorder, anorexia nervosa, and bulimia nervosa are in the Gyn section. There's nothing, for example, about how drugs affect women differently, and not all women's health issues are related to gynecology. This plus the state of articles related to women's health, described above, indicates to me that women's health articles need some extra attention and I agree that a WikiProject is the best way to coordinate that attention. I don't know how much I can help but I strongly support this project and would definitely join. Ca2james (talk) 15:52, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  13. I have already begun creating and improving many articles related to women's health. Many of the dates of the references are quite outdated on many of the topics and articles. You could say that I am already part of this project and fully support its creation.   Bfpage |leave a message  14:34, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  14. I have been setting up a similar IRL group, in hopes of addressing both women-specific health topics (Ob-Gyn) and sex/gender differences in more general health topics (cardiovascular disease, medication responses, etc). We are users with broad medical knowledge, but new to Wikipedia, and could use some allies who are familiar with editing here. I think my group would love to be involved, I will watch this page and stay in touch! Steelyskoal (talk) 21:17, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  15. I have some EMT experience but perhaps more importantly, I think copyediting is awesome fun. Sign me up to help improve these articles! A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 00:15, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

[edit]
I think that the articles on abortion procedures would and should overlap, but the political and social stuff is best left out of a strictly medical WikiProject, in my opinion. Keilana|Parlez ici 04:32, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see why it would be absorbed, anyhow; it could become a daughter wikiproject, but you make a good point. Don't other women's health issues have political and social aspects, though? ekips39 (talk) 04:38, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think anything else is as politicized as abortion is, though....it's kind of a unique part of health care. Keilana|Parlez ici 05:00, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Topics that would be appropriate in a Women's Health Project should also include articles related to: menopause, aging, different health concerns for women as they age. Symptoms of some diseases differ between men and women. An article on Medicare for women is appropriate, social security benefits for widows...I have a long list! I would also like to help design the logo, userbox, barnstar, talk page template and project page.   Bfpage |leave a message  14:45, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Presumably Category:Women's health and most of its subcategories would fall within this project's scope. gobonobo + c 23:19, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
