Description
[edit]The intent of the proposed WikiProject University of Connecticut is to monitor and drive improvement into University of Connecticut-related articles, including the university and its academic programs as well as the Connecticut Huskies athletic programs and notable alumni. Right now there is no common project overseeing all University of Connecticut-related content; WikiProject Universities covers the academic side, while the most prominent athletic programs are split between WikiProject College basketball and WikiProject College football. WikiProject Connecticut covers many UConn articles, but not all; articles about athletic events and alumni based outside of Connecticut are outside that WikiProject's scope. Based on the current contents of Category:University of Connecticut, about 500 articles would currently be in-scope; I anticipate that with the organizational support of a WikiProject dozens more could be created. –Grondemar 00:52, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion
[edit]I noticed on your draft page, it mentioned "articles related to UConn's athletic programs, including basketball and football". Perhaps we should add something to say "as well as other sports" so it doesn't sound like we're just doing those. For instance, Morrone Stadium would be included in the scope of the project, as well as alumni such as Charles Nagy. Smartyllama (talk) 02:47, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Good point, I've updated accordingly. Thanks for joining! –Grondemar 06:42, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
With seven participants signed up I think we've reached critical mass. I've gone ahead and moved the project page to project space and will be adding it to the WikiProject directory. Thanks everybody! –Grondemar 20:27, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
