Description
[edit]The WikiProject Canada would create, assess and improve new and old article relating to Hockey in Canada. The state of some articles relating to this subject could bring any random Canadian hockey lover to tears. This project would work toward a goal of improving such articles to be the best that Wikipedia has to offer. mauchoeagle (c) 22:32, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion
[edit]- Have you looked at the existing WP:HOCKEY group? WhatamIdoing (talk) 20:52, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I have but that project covers the topic only to a certain extent. This would be a WikiProject that would devote its time to developing article under that topic. mauchoeagle (c) 22:21, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- You could certainly make it a task force under WikiProject Hockey like we have for Sweden. That being said I don't really see much of a point creating a separate project since WP:HOCKEY naturally heavily edits that topic already. As I said a task force would be better, but you should probably have a number of editors already interested in creating one first. -DJSasso (talk) 12:16, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- And I just noticed the proposer is blocked as a sock so not much point discussing I guess. -DJSasso (talk) 12:19, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Also there's a 2-day old IP at WP:HOCKEY, making mention of the proposal. Might it be 'block evasion'? GoodDay (talk) 15:06, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Please WP:AGF, GoodDay. The IP editor has commented on numerous Wikiproject proposals, and it seems was notifying us as a courtesy, nothing more. Resolute 16:24, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Geeze, very good, be insulting. Notifying WP:HOCKEY of a hockey related issue obviously should not occur, since they don't want to be informed; why does it exist then? 65.94.47.63 (talk) 08:22, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Only one person said that, please don't paint an entire group of people with the same brush because one person said he thought you might be the same person as the blocked user. -DJSasso (talk) 18:46, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Being a bit miffed by that contributed to the overly broad assertion. My bad. 65.94.47.63 (talk) 04:29, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Such a project would seem to be an unnecessary fork of WP:HOCKEY. While we do have a good core of active editors, there aren't enough to warrant such a split. It would only harm both the existing and the new project. Resolute 16:22, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
