Description
[edit]A WikiProject that specializes in The Onion and its sub-projects, including its website, the AV club, its books, its TV shows (their respective episode lists) and movies, controversy over its lack of reality and possibly covering its native smartphone applications. The Onion's community is already well organized per Template:The Onion, but has no-where to administrate as a project outside of talk pages. Although I personally might not join this project, it still seems like an important one to have now that The Onion as an organization is growing. Nicky Nouse (talk · contribs · count · logs)

- Muboshgu (talk · contribs) With The Onion spreading to numerous venues, it's a good idea to set up a WikiProject. I created the template and while I'm not particularly active with any related project, I edit on some comedy-related pages and would probably join this WikiProject. --Muboshgu (talk) 06:19, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- A million times yes, The Onion is awesome.Who Am I Why Am I Here? (talk) 20:26, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose
[edit]- Successful WikiProjects usually have thousands or tens of thousands of articles within their scope. If there are fewer than 100 articles within the scope, then a separate WikiProject is inappropriate. Try joining a bigger, existing group. Discussion
[edit]I can definitely see The Onion requiring many more pages. Like I said before, it's growing. Soon, it will need episode lists for its TV shows, likely by season, and biographies for each character. And that's just a few. —Preceding signed comment added by Nicky Nouse (talk • contribs • wikia) 20:09, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, but you're still looking at maybe 50–100 articles, right?
- Your best course of action is almost certainly joining WP:WikiProject Comedy. You left a note there, so you know that the group is only semi-active. A "friendly takeover" by a couple of enthusiastic people would be just the thing. You'd get a higher profile, access to more members, and less administrative hassle; they'd get someone doing something useful (and if the project just "happens" to resemble a series of collaborations on The Onion for the rest of the year, then so much the better, right?).
